Whew. What a rush. Havn't had much of a creative output in the last few months but suddenly my muse bit again and guess what? He's Baaaacccckkkk!
I started by playing with the Halo's feature called "randomize voice". It's a way to get completely new combinations of sounds that don't come with the preset bank, but can be saved if desired. I came across a factory arpeggiation applied to a really wierd sounding piano. I messed with it for a while and then decided to lay a track in CEP... Just furthehelluvit, ya know? Might come in useful.
Well I listened to it one more time and before I knew it, I had already started working on new tracks. This one three minute piano track turned into about 14 hours of recording, discarding, recording again...oh, the thrill of creation! Yee-haw.
Let's see this was... 7 tracks.
>piano arpeggiation
>string section
>harp (heavily processed and FXED)
>tympani (also rather heavily processed track in retrospect)
>cymbal swells/crashes
>misc percussion
>orchestral (tubular) bells with pitch shifting
Each track seperately recorded, panned and SFX before a final mixdown to regular stereo. No final compression or EQ. As I said, the arprggiatiation is main time keeping in this song. No actual sequences. All sounds created on the Halo.
Enjoy and happy almost spring!
